VoIP telephony

It's the talk of the town, the new "gotta have it" service and yes, Uni-Plus can provision VoIP (Voice over IP) service using two different platforms:

1. Through your personal computer – where the computer itself serves as your main telephone set. See the Computer based VoIP section for more details >>
2. Through the Nomad – a small device allowing you to “carry” your line (see chart for available exchanges) wherever you are and which permits you to use a regular telephone set. See the Nomad VoIP section for more details >>

Both these services are mobile. The telephone or extension number assigned to your computer or to the Nomad will follow these devices no matter where they go. All you need is a high-speed Internet connection to be able to place and receive calls. Configuration options are flexible to fit your needs: receive inbound calls only, make outbound calls only or both. Power-up your service with selected Star calling features and you will experience the full power of VoIP telephony.

Note that all VoIP telephony services are available to Windows, Macintosh and Linux users.

• Step 2: Define the VoIP configuration options which best suits your needs.
• Step 3: Select the Additional options and Star calling features which will maximize the efficiency and portability your VoIP telephony services.

Our edge over the competition

Uni-Plus bundles more Star calling features in its packages than the competition. When selecting the Inbound and outbound calls configuration at $25 a month, we include call display (name and number), call waiting, visual call waiting, message waiting indicator, last caller and conference call possibilities.

Convert and go!

You wish to keep your present telephone number(s)? No problem! Rather than assigning you a new number, Uni-Plus can convert your existing one(s) to the service described above. There is a $40 one-time charge for each number conversion.

Additional notes

1. The Uni-Plus VoIP telephony services require that the number(s) used to place and/or receive calls be converted over to Uni-Plus. See chart for list of exchanges which can be managed by Uni-Plus. If you prefer retaining your phone number with the existing carrier, you can call forward your existing number to a number provided to you by Uni-Plus and we will convert the phone signal to computer VoIP service.
2. As Uni-Plus VoIP service is mobile, 911 service is handled differently than with traditional telephone 911 services. You are responsible for advising us each time you move your VoIP service so that your location may be updated and provided to 911 authorities. Please read the 911 Emergency Service terms of service containing important information.
